POLYETHYLENE - A MULTI-PURPOSE PLASTIC FOR HAZARDOUS MATERIAL STORAGE

Extra-lightweight but robust and highly resistant to acids and alkalis: Polyethylene (PE) is the all-rounder among plastics. That's why we offer you an extensive range of tried-and-tested polyethylene products in our online shop - from spill pallets to versatile multi-purpose containers and everything in between.

Frequently asked questions about polyethylene

What are the characteristics of polyethylene?

Polyethylene (PE) is a thermoplastic and optimal material for products for the storage of water-polluting and aggressive substances such as acids and alkalis. Users also benefit from the material characteristics of polyethylene when it comes to handling: Compared to other materials, it is very lightweight and, therefore, effortless to handle. At the same time, PE is also robust, impact-resistant, and weatherproof - optimal conditions for industrial applications indoors and outdoors. Another advantage: PE is corrosion-free.

What are the different types of polyethylene?

Polyethylene is divided into four main types:

  • HDPE (high density)

  • MDPE (medium density)

  • LDPE (low density)

  • LLDPE (linear low-density PE)

Which chemicals is polyethylene resistant to?

Polyethylene has a high media resistance to acids, alkalis, oils, and other substances hazardous to water. Are you unsure whether a polyethylene product is suitable for your storage medium? Then, please take a look at our media resistance list.

How are rotationally moulded polyethylene products manufactured at DENIOS?

Poly products from DENIOS consist of rotationally moulded plastic components. Powdered thermoplastic is heated to the melting point in hollow moulds. By rotating the moulds, the liquefied thermoplastic is deposited layer by layer on the walls of the mould. The moulds are made in our in-house toolmaking department. Only materials with the appropriate approval are used in the production process.

Media resistance of polyethylene

In order to be able to select the right material for a spill pallet, it is advisable to take a look at the safety data sheets of the substances to be stored. You will find all relevant information on storage and transport there. Our media resistance list also provides useful information on suitable materials for various storage media. The corrosion resistance of the tank materials used and their compatibility with the stored substances must be proven. For many chemical substances, spill pallets made of steel (1.0038) can be used. Especially with corrosive substances (acids/alkalis), it is often necessary to use spill püallets made of plastic (polyethylene). Stainless steel offers high-quality protection, especially against many aggressive liquids. If no specifications can be taken from resistance lists, the material of the spill pallet can be the same as the material of the transport container.

Polyethylene products for the storage of hazardous materials

For a wide range of storage purposes and quantities, we offer collection trays, small container trays, filling stations, surface protection systems, hazardous material cabinets, hazardous material depots and hazardous material racks made of high-quality polyethylene. Thanks to the material characteristics of PE, these are ideally suited for the safe storage of aggressive chemicals such as acids and alkalis as well as substances of all water hazard classes.

While PE spill pallets primarily ensure safe and legally compliant storage, polyethylene dispensing stations also enable safe filling and decanting from the drums or IBCs stored on them at any time. Spillage deckings are special elements made of polyethylene that protect large areas from leaking liquids or splashes. Do you want to store aggressive chemicals on several levels in a particularly space-saving way? Then our hazardous materials racks with polyethylene spill pallets are the right choice for you!

For the storage of e.g. acids and alkalis in workrooms by regulations, HazMat cabinets made of polyethylene are the optimal choice. In our online shop, you will find an extensive range of PE cabinets in different dimensions. For the storage of larger containers, we recommend our PolySafe hazardous materials depot made of polyethylene. These are particularly well suited for the economical storage of 200-liter drums and IBCs.
