What is Personal Protective Equipment?

Personal Protective Equipment, or PPE for short, is any equipment designed to be used or worn by workers to protect themselves against hazards to their safety and health. DENIOS offers a wide range of PPE equipment that ensure your employees are protected from dangers in the workplace.

It is essential that employees follow the correct health and safety procedures and wear the appropriate personal protective equipment when carrying out specific tasks to reduce the risk of injury at work. As an employer, it is your duty to provide them with the correct products and training to enable them to remain safe at work.

What are the Categories of Personal Protective Equipment?

The Personal Protective Equipment Directive provides for product classification into three categories.

PPE category I (low risk):

This category includes personal protective equipment that assumes the user can assess the effectiveness against minor risks and the effect of which, when they occur gradually, is perceived by the user in a timely and safe manner (ex: gloves)

PPE category II (medium risks):

This category includes all personal protective equipment not classified in category I or category III (ex: safety helmets, protective footwear, earmuffs)

PPE category III (high risks):

Category III includes complex personal protective equipment intended to defend against fatal hazards or irreversible damage to health. This equipment is used when the worker cannot be expected to detect the immediate effects of the danger in time (ex: respiratory protective equipment, personal protective equipment for protection against falls).
