EV Fire Blanket Deployment Instructions

Use this guide to understand when an EV fire blanket should be used, how to place it over the vehicle, and what safety steps to follow during an incident.

• Identify the right situation for use, including smoke, unusual odours or sounds, collision damage, water exposure, or visible flames where it is safe and emergency responders advise deployment.
• Remove the blanket from storage, open it fully, and position two people on the short sides using the grip loops.
• Move in from upwind, keep clear of the underbody area, and place the blanket over the full vehicle while maintaining as much distance as possible.
• After the vehicle is covered, retreat to a safe distance and wait for first responders. The blanket is intended to help contain fire spread and is not designed to extinguish a lithium-ion battery fire.
